Votes are in and the Final Floor plan is SET! -Sierra Melomo, Vedastein Custom Design

Hello, and Happy New Year! Since finishing our scale model Airstreams we have waited for the teachers, and staff members of the Ann Richards School to cast their votes for the winning floorplan design. Before sending in the Airstreams, as a class we split up into three different groups. In these groups we went through each teams floor layouts. Spending a long time determining the great and positive aspects of each design, then we offered some good constructive feedback to

each team. We rated the best floorplans, and the top five out of the eight. The top five floorplans went to the teachers to choose their favorite from. Maya and I were super proud to have the second ranked floorplan! Our floorplan offered lots of space to move around in as well as work space. While giving positive feedback many people commented on the very easy flow of the design. Our floorplan is very opened and not overly compact at all. The two comments Maya and I got the most for constructive feedback was one, the hubcap slid out from under a seat a small bit. This caused a strange hump to be where feet and legs were suppose to be. To fix this problem we could just increase the length of the chair by about four inches. Then the hubcap would not show. The second comment was the on our scale model the corner of the table in the front was somewhat in the way of the door. This would be problematic if people ran right into the corner of the table when they first walk in. The table truly is not suppose to be crossing the door, but our “scale model” was not completely to scale, so

the door was pushed over a little bit, giving the impression that the table and the door cross. But they’re not suppose to in reality.

The teachers decided to go with the Dream Designers floorplan. The Dream Designers had a great floorplan. My absolute favorite part of their floorplan is the bookshelf in the back end of the trailer. The bookshelf is short but has different sized compartments, making it easy to put in different sized objects in the bookshelf. I am excited to work with this floorplan!

Sorry you didn’t win, but at least you like the design that won! It wouldn’t be very fun to work with a design you don’t like.
