Reuse Reduse and Recycle – Lucy Saucedo, LuLa Custom Design

Hello fellow streamers, I’m back and with so much to tell you. From reusing to building and painting. We have done so much in the few that I have not blogged.  Let’s start on reusing things.

Okay so let’s talk about the reusing of things that you can use in the re-making of the airstream. So something Mrs. Jo calls this is upcycling, which means that you reuse things around your environment. You can buy it from companies and reuse them. There is some pro’s con’s to upcycling. Let me tell you about them and how they can affect the cost that you wish to spend in restoring something you will like. Some pro’s on upcycling are that you do not spend much money because you are reusing something that is going to be thrown away. Another Pro’s is that it is very helpful to the environment because you are not killing most of it. A Con on upcycling, it can be various things depending on the reused materials that you might have. For example if you are hoping to reuse wood, the wood could be either rotten, it could be painted on; it could still have nails from the previous usages.

So getting to the point, with this knowledge we were able to use upcycling in our airstream. To our luck one of our teachers here in the school donated wood because her closet was begging to be taken down and we are using her wood to create the counter top. Shout out to Mrs. Ewart, for this amazing wood. What we started to do in class because it rained on us the day we were suppose to paint the most was we did do some painting but it was the tiles that will go in the ceiling. Mrs. Jo split us up into different groups to do different jobs. Some of the jobs were to fix the wood that our teacher had given to us.  Some of the jobs were to take many of the extra screws that were previously left and another job was sanding down the ones that we have finished taking the screws out. For this I suggest a mask because the sanding is pretty hard, and it involves a lot of excessive dust. This caused me to sneeze much so make sure to wear a mask. Another station was cleaning the dust that came out of the dusting and was left on the board, and another station was making the window frame usable . It has a great pattern and is very pretty and I think it will look great in the airstream. This will be used as tables. I think that upcycling is something really cool because you have to be very creative in order to use most of the things that are usable. I really do admire Mrs. Jo for this because she is the one that helps us create something out of the things that are donated to us.

On another note, last week when most of you guys were maybe waking up late on a Saturday. I came to help out Mrs. Jo. It was just mainly painting many things. For example I was helping out my painting the tiles that will go on the ceiling of the airstream. Like our airstream we have to be very eco-friendly so she bought low VOC- paint. So we started painting the inside of the airstream and its coming along fairly well. Well that’s all for today. Until next time fellow streamers.
