Ms. JO here, the crazy teacher behind this whole project. I just wanted to post a few pictures of the FLOR carpet squares that I laid out today. The instructions said to let the carpet squares “breathe” in the space before the actual install. Who knew we ordered flooring that was into yoga?! Perfect for our mission statement. Anyhow, when I ordered the squares, which by the way are made from 100% recycled materials, I was in a bit of a hurry and kinda just guesstimated how many squares I would need. I have to say, I’m quite impressed with how well they laid out. We wanted a little bit of the floor to show around the perimeter, and looky here, almost a perfect fit with no shortage or extra carpet squares left over! I think the tangerine color and design we picked out looks awesome!
I’m also really digging the preserved and updated original bathroom wall-design that we are turning into an homage of the original Airstream interior design. We chose some Moroccan colors from the Annie Sloan chalk paint collection, and we are simply painting over a rectangle of what used to be the bathroom wall. This was an idea given to us by Mariah from the Comet Camper, who said it’s always nice to try and preserve some of the original parts of vintage campers, for nostalgic purposes.
We also built this cool floating deck for the Airstream entrance. It’s my first deck, and thus the student’s first deck (I assume) and I do say it turned out mighty fine. I think the 7th graders awesome landscaping job has a lot to do with how awesome it looks. Yeah Garden Ventura!
That’s all for now! Stay tuned as we finish up the final touches of our Airstream…hopefully in time for the big presentation/party on the 23rd!
