The End of Our Journey- Jessica Swofford- Jedi Design Team

Hello everyone! We are finally done with the Airstream remodel! Everything is set up and working perfectly. The teachers have been using it and their reactions have been very good. They have said that it looks very professional and that it is in a perfect spot for them to get outside every once in a while. The couches seem to be one of their favorite parts of the entire thing. They say that they are very comfortable and are the perfect size because they don’t take up too much room, but they are still big enough for people to fit and be comfortable at the same time. I am so proud to be a part of this engineering team and I love the finished product.

I will definitely miss working on this project next year. This project is my favorite one that I have done yet. My favorite paairstream1rt was the building milestone. Working with all of the new tools and seeing our plans being built felt awesome. I really like how we got to make so many decisions about what it was going to look like because now we get to say, “ Yeah, I built that. We were the ones who decided this part. We were the ones that made this happen”. It feels great to be done.

photo 2I am actually pretty jealous of the teachers, because they get to enjoy the wonderful trailer anytime they want. I would love to be able to use the trailer, but then again, the purpose of the Airstream was to give the teachers somewhere that they can relax in, because they definitely deserve it. They work very hard and don’t get a lot of appreciation for it. I am glad that I was able to give them something that is just for them. The picture above is of Ms. Ewald enjoying the Airstream during her lunch break on the couch. Along with her, Ms. Ewart and Ms. Creer, which were eating at the tables in the corner that is not in the picture.

This was a long and hard journey, but we made it through alive and I am so happy that we were able to finish before the school year ended. I had so much fun and I learned a lot of useful things throughout the entire project. I now know how to build a couch, a bookshelf, how to do the siding on furniture and much more. Thank you to all of those that kept up with this project and got to see the process of remodeling the Airstream. It really means a lot and we love you all!

– much love- Swofford
